Fiber for weight loss? Monique Richard, RD, says yes. If you're watching your weight, it's filling and low in calories.

“Fiber is the carbohydrate or starch our body can't simply digest,” says Richard, owner of Nutrition-In-Sight and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson. “It can make us feel fuller, slow us down by chewing longer, maybe lower how much we eat, support beneficial bacteria in our digestive tract, and keep us regular.”

The greatest probiotic may also help weight loss by improving digestion, fat storage, and hunger.

“Because fibre is in fruits, vegetables and plants, fiber-rich foods tend to be naturally lower in calories and richer in other important nutrients,” says Richard.
